Opinión de Sara: Llevaba mucho tiempo tras el libro Etiquette and espionage de Gail Carriger, desde que leí Sin alma pero en España, lamentablemente se canceló su primera saga así que no veía esperanzas para esta otra saga precuela. Así que me decidí a leerlo en inglés.
Ha sido una lectura algo difícil debido a algunas palabras de la época victoriana pero se podían salvar con un diccionario en la mano y paciencia.
Ha sido una gran lectura y no sólo por la gran imaginación de Gail Carriger sino por su narración, divertida y amena.

La protagonista es Sophronia, un nombre que todavía me cuesta escribir y decir tras haber leído el libro entero y aún tengo mis dudas, es una muchacha rebelde con unas ideas muy distintas a las de la mujer victoriana. Por ello, acaba en una academia prestigiosa para señoritas. Pero pronto descubrirá que no es una academia normal y corriente sino que entrena a las mejores espías del país. Sus clases irán más allá de reverencias y protocolo sino que le enseñarán a camuflarse, esconder cuchillos y pelear.
Hay un personaje de la saga Sin alma que aparece en este libro, en su juventud y ha estado bastante bien volver a leer sobre ella. El resto de secundarios son todos nuevos y enseguida nos enamoraremos de cada uno de ellos. Gail Carriger tiene una narración sencilla, sin florituras pero al mismo tiempo se adapta a la época victoriana para crear una historia entretenida, llena de detalles y descripciones que no aburren ni se hacen monótonas. Es una escritora bastante buena y sinceramente, sus libros de steampunk habría que tenerlos en cuenta.
Tras terminar el primer libro, es inevitable irse al siguiente ya que deja un final muy abierto y con ganas de seguir las aventuras de Sophronia.

Aunque pueda haber algo de vocabulario difícil para los que no están acostumbrados a leer en inglés, recomiendo este libro porque es divertido y fresco, mezclando la época victoriana con el mundo sobrenatural. Gail Carriger es una opción para leer en el verano.

I’ve been waiting to read Etiquette and espionage by Gail Carriger for a long time, since I read Soulless but her first series was cancelled in Spain so I didn’t have hope to see this series in my country. So I decided to read it in English.
This reading has been a little difficult because of some victorian vocabulary but you can read it without problems with a dictionary and patience.
It has been a great read and Not only for Gail's wonderful imagination but for her narration, hilarious and light.

Sophronia is the main character, a name that it’s still hard to write and pronounce and after I finished the book, I have some problems. She’s a rebellious teenager with some different ideas than the rest typical Victorian woman. For that, she studies at a prestige academy for young ladies. But soon, she’ll discover that the academy isn’t normal and ordinary, there young ladies are trained to spy.
Her classes will get beyond curtsies and protocol, they’ll learn how to fight, camouflage and hide knifes.
There’s a character from Soulless series, but young, and it’s been great to read again about her. The supporting characters are all new and we’ll fall in love with them. Gail Carriger has a great narrative, without flourish but the narrative is adapted to the Victorian era, creating an entertaining story, with a lot of details and description that it’s not boring and not tedious. Gail Carriger is a fantastic writer, and honestly, her steampunk books would have to be considered.
After finishing her first book, it’s inevitable to continue, the final is open and you’ll have to read the next adventures of Sophronia.

Although there’re some difficult words for Spanish readers, I recommended this book because it’s hilarious and original, a mix of Victorian era and supernatural world. Gail Carriger is a perfect option to read in the summer.
